Sidney Sugars Incorporated, located in Sidney, MT, a subsidiary of American Crystal Sugar Company, currently has an opening for an Agriculturalist.  The purpose of this position is to provide agronomic expertise to growers in the production of a high quality beet crop that increases the recoverable sugar per acre. Manage harvest operations and beet storage for assigned areas.  Manage grower relationships within corporate guidelines to attract and retain sugar beet growers.

 

The principal accountabilities of this position include:


Make recommendations to assist growers in the production of a high quality beet crop with an increase in recoverable sugar and minimal production costs.  

Maintain Agriculture Reporting System to ensure appropriate information is available for decision making purposes. 

Maintain current knowledge of new research and technological changes to ensure growers receive up-to-date information on sugar beet agriculture.  

Assist in the implementation of new technology in crop production. 

Assist growers with harvest equipment and improved harvest techniques to maximize sugar recovery per acre.  

Effectively manage receiving stations, supervise harvest crews, and ensure compliance with Company policies during harvest.  

Promote beet seed variety selection to growers to contribute to the profitability of SSI.


 

Knowledge and Experience:
To be successful in this position requires an agri-business background typically gained through the completion of a degree in Agronomy, Ag Economics or a related field with two to three years of experience. Effective oral and written communications skills, supervisory skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with growers are also required. A valid driver’s license is required.  CCA certification preferred.

These positions are assigned to the Oregon Wireless Interoperability Network (OWIN) under direction of the Department of State Police. OWIN has legislated responsibility for planning of the wireless communications infrastructure and consolidation for all of the State of Oregon's departments and agencies under legislation (HB 2101) adopted during the 2005 Oregon legislative session. This program is responsible for research, analysis, planning, engineering, acquisition, installation, maintenance, and operation of emergency response, statewide wireless voice and data communications systems and for microwave carrier systems that serve all agencies. The microwave system will provide connectivity to the statewide, interoperable P-25 digital trunked radio system and it will include an internet protocol platform so that users at the local level can talk to each other.
One position will lead the radio program and the other position will lead the microwave program. Both positions integrate into the OWIN team.



Direct all functions of the OWIN Microwave or Radio program (depending on the position), providing leadership and guidance to the specific team. These positions are responsible for the developing, implementing, evaluating, and monitoring of either the OWIN Microwave or OWIN Radio unit or the microwave or radio system within the OWIN division, ensuring that it meets established objectives and goals. These positions provide oversight to either the microwave or radio system implementation process that supports the development of the OWIN radio system and/or the OWIN microwave system. These positions will be responsible for oversight of the engineering, project development, system implementation, and administration of the OWIN microwave or radio unit and of the OWIN microwave or OWIN radio system. These positions will require extensive coordination with other OWIN and Local Government units to engineer systems, plan, and administer resources to develop and maintain either the OWIN microwave system or the OWIN radio system. Specialty work is required to integrate the diverse and existing systems within Oregon into a Systems of Systems model that will support First Responders throughout Oregon. These positions will provide oversight to the various microwave and/or radio programs within OWIN and oversee operational and maintenance staff within the OWIN microwave program or the radio program (depending on the position) -ensuring the day to day microwave or radio operations and program implementation meets established objectives and goals. The ability to organize each of these programs is a primary requirement.

Perform and analyze D.O.E., (design of experiments)
Identify equipment and process capability (Cpk), cycle rates, profit potential, recommend pricing adjustments, etc.
Responsible for Process Engineering, document process procedures, equipment Standard Operating Procedures, identify specific quality inspection procedures
Responsible for training operators, write and manage OQ/PQ when required by customers
Provide support to production to troubleshoot process, tooling and equipment issues
Monitor production, product returns - root cause / corrective actions
Research equipment and process technology to evaluate cost and/or technology improvements, present recommendations to Senior Management
